Skills and knowledge required for a Yacht Crew
Day 1
15:00 to 18:30
- Registration
- Personal and boat safety.
• Safely move around the deck
• Know the safety equipment on board - Identify the basic parts of the Sailboat:
• Cockpit, Bow, Stern, Boom, Mast, Rigging, Halyards. - Operate the boat engine
• Start it, switch it off, Check whether cooling system works, Inspection before starting. - Learn the basic Knots
• Bowline, figure of 8, fasten a line on a cleat, fishermen’s bend, coil mooring lines.
Day 2
08:30 to 18:30
- Casting off, docking and mooring.
- Point of sails (Theory)
• Beat, Reach, run - Handling sail sheets and halyards
• Hoist and dowse the sails - Upwind sailing
Day 3
08:00 to 17:00
- Anchoring
• Prepare anchor,
• letting out and taking in the chain - Reef down and shake off the reefs
- Man overboard.

Registration and introduction from 3pm to 6pm, 1 day before the course start date.
