About ISSA
International Sailing Schools Association (ISSA) is the leading yacht training system in Europe, and it is now expanding its reach into the Middle East and Asia. Founded in 1969, this European organisation was established to promote yachting and water sports. ISSA is a non-profit charitable organisation that has primarily focused on providing advisory support to encourage safe water sports activities across Europe. It has now turned its attention to Asia.
We are proud to announce that PYC is now officially the FIRST ISSA-accredited sailing centre in India!
This global recognition means our sailing programs now meet international standards — opening the sea to students, sailors, and adventure seekers across India and beyond.
Your ISSA Certification
Certification should be seen as the beginning of your marine education
We aim to encourage students to focus on gaining experience rather than just collecting badges. By recording your experience in the ISSA database, you’ll be able to demonstrate your sailing miles and skills to insurers, course directors, and charter agents. This will help you prove your competence and secure better insurance rates and yacht charter deals.
Currently, ISSA-certified courses are issued on plastic, credit-card-style certificates. However, ISSA is now moving towards a greener alternative—online registration and certification. We can’t reveal too much about this just yet, but we’re excited about the changes ahead, and we hope that Asia will be a testing ground for these new systems.
Monitoring Standards
PYC has joined the ISSA schools in Asia and serves as training base since 2025. Our role is to support the growth of more ISSA schools across the region. PYC will ensure that its courses use appropriate intellectual property and maintain a systematic approach to learning, with a focus on ensuring instructors and administrators uphold high standards. Every school’s Quality Management System (QMS) is reviewed periodically from ISSA, as agreed between chief instructors and school owners or managers.
PYC will regularly check yachts for safety gear and equipment, ensuring they meet the necessary standards. Insurance is a key concern for both customers and ISSA, and the facilities at the school will continually improve, reflecting the level of care and attention to detail that customers expect. Competency will be evaluated using well-considered checklists, and each course syllabus will be transparent to the student and covered in training materials—both practically and theoretically.
